A parish councillor speaks: as we start the school summer holidays please could drivers slow down through the village. 20 IS PLENTY. The parish council has started to look into speed limits through the village, particularly with the increase in traffic from The Pig’s staff, clients and deliveries. We have asked The Pig to remind their people to slow down but village residents need to set a good example. 20 IS PLENTY where our village children are walking or cycling to the park or to meet friends. If you have any particular concerns the Parish Council is happy to hear from you. We surely all want our children to enjoy this incredible summer, so let’s all do our bit to make it a safe one on the roads.

On Saturday morning, the 21^st October from 10am to 2pm, Sarah Agg-Manning will be having a sale of garage contents and various other items, at Eveleigh’s Farmhouse. There are also a number of pictures, including original watercolours painted by her father who attended Art College and was an associate member of the R.I.B.A. As they will not fit into her new home and the family already have items of his work, they will also be on sale.

Parliamentary Election
For the TIVERTON & HONITON CONSTITUENCY
1. An election is to be held of one Member of Parliament for Tiverton & Honiton.
2. Forms of nomination for the Parliamentary Election may be obtained at Phoenix House, Phoenix Lane, Tiverton, Devon, EX16 6PP from the Acting Returning Officer who will, at the request of an elector for any electoral area prepare a nomination paper for signature.
3. Nomination papers must be delivered to the Acting Returning Officer, Phoenix House, Phoenix Lane, Tiverton, Devon, EX16 6PP on any day after the date of this notice between the hours of 10am and 4pm but no later than 4 pm on Thursday, 11th May 2017.
4. The required deposit may be made either by the deposit of any legal tender, by means of a banker’s draft or, with the Acting Returning Officer’s consent, in any other manner (including by debit or credit card or the electronic transfer of funds).
5. If the election is contested the poll will take place on Thursday, 8th June 2017.

Please be advised that circumstances and weather permitting, SWH will be undertaking essential highway maintenance works on behalf of Devon County Council, between 3 January and 4 January 2017.  Please be aware however that these dates may still need to change with little or no notice.

The works will involve essential Surface Patching works in the highway.  In order to carry out these works, a road closure and diversion will be in place.

Work generally will be undertaken between the hours of 07:00 and 18:00, although these times may vary.
